While You Weren’t Looking
Directed by Catherine Stewart
Description
The multifaceted political and racial climate of South Africa is the backdrop for a richly complex portrait of an affluent mixed-race lesbian couple in WHILE YOU WEREN’T LOOKING, from acclaimed filmmaker Catherine Stewart. As Dez and Terri struggle with their own relationship and ambitions, they must also contend with the rebellious instincts of their beautiful teenage daughter. As their daughter falls hard for a girl from a different background, Dez and Terri are confronted with their own prejudices and secrets, both of which threaten to destroy the world they’ve carefully crafted together. This film is co-presented by Affinity Community Services and The Ubuntu Center of Chicago.
