First Girl I Loved
Directed by Kerem Sanga
Seventeen-year-old Anne (Dylan Gelula, Xan on UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT) is a headstrong, brainy nerd. In the midst of covering a softball game for the high school yearbook, she comes under the spell of the star player, the gorgeous Sasha (Brianna Hildebrand, DEADPOOL) who just happens to be the most popular girl in school. Anne and Sasha become best friends but complications arise when Anne, in a moment of excitement, reveals her girl crush to Clifton (Mateo Arias), her best male friend who is straight. Cliff isn’t thrilled with the news – especially when he reveals a secret girl crush of his own – on Anne. Then things get really complicated in this tender, contemporary story about coming out and the heartache of first love. The young cast give this Sundance Film Festival fave from writer-director Kerem Sanga a dose of winsome energy that is underlined with a ton of heart.
