Reeling 2018: The 36th Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival will take place September 20-30, 2018. Reeling prides itself on showing the best in LGBTQ+ cinema year after year. Reeling is produced by Chicago Filmmakers, a local nonprofit media arts organization, and as such, the Festival is almost entirely volunteer-run. Reeling relies on a group of dedicated individuals to work on-site and behind the scenes during the months of August through September. The Jury Coordinator will be in charge of collaborating with Jury members to receive their ballots for Reeling Jury Awards (awarded at the end of the festival in various categories). This job will require organization, attention to detail, and frequent correspondence during and after the festival run. Reeling offers different levels of membership with level-specific benefits. The Membership Manager will be in charge of processing membership orders, keeping a database of members and levels, and fulfilling membership kits (all include a festival card, some come as a package). This position will also include upkeep of our ticketing portal to accommodate membership promotions and discount codes should they be implemented during the festival pre-season and unlocking pre-sale tickets to existing members. Reeling partners with local businesses to throw events during the festival season, including after-parties for our Opening and Closing nights and other special events that come to fruition during the festival run. The Special Events Coordinator will be in charge of corresponding with our partnered businesses to work out the logistics and promotions for these events, keeping Reeling’s venue location and schedule in mind. Festival Drivers transport guest filmmakers and other VIPs to and from airports, hotels, screening venues, and other Festival locations during the Festival. Good driving skills, familiarity with the city of Chicago, and a clean driving record are required. Night and weekend availability is a must. During the Festival only. The Hospitality Coordinator reports to the Director of Operations and manages the day-to-day flight travel and hotel bookings for the Festival’s guest filmmakers and other talent. Duties include managing the schedule of airport pick-ups and drop-offs for all guests, overseeing the drivers’ schedules, and attending to guests’ local transportation requirements (sometimes coordinating Lyfts/Ubers). Must have familiarity with the Chicago area, have excellent communication and organization skills, be highly detail orientated, and be able to coordinate hotel bookings and volunteer pick-ups in a clear and professional manner. Marketing Associates (2 openings) report to the Marketing Manager and Director of Operations to assist in the organizational aspects of the Festival’s marketing operations, including street team recruitment and management, media sponsorship fulfillment, materials production, and general event promotions. Marketing Associates will work to build audiences and increase general event awareness. Ideal candidates are high-energy, motivated, forward thinkers who are excited about queer cinema and/or film, in general. Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, ideally Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, social media platforms and familiarity with the city of Chicago and the LGBTQ+ community in Chicago. July or August through October – with possibility to extend to December for internship credit. *This can be taken as a marketing internship for college credit! Social Media Coordinators (4 openings) manage all of Reeling’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat), posting scheduled content as well as identifying and executing real-time content opportunities. Must have knowledge in and experience with social media brand management; position requires nights/weekend availability before and during the Festival. Operations Assistants report to the Director of Operations and Executive Director to assist in the organization of all operational and logistical aspects of the festival. Must be detail oriented, have a driver’s license, and be willing/able to lift at least 25 lbs. Early September – September 30, 2018. Please send your resume and availability to

Box Office Agents (10 openings) work under the Box Office & Ticketing Manager and Associates to sell tickets for the festival through walk-up sales. Requires good communication and customer service skills. Must have a positive and professional attitude. Responsible for following daily sales procedures and balancing sales sold. Knowledge of ticketing system is preferred but not necessary; we can train volunteers on-site. Availability during the festival is required (September 20-30, 2018).
