Just like his father and his father’s father before him, all Mangus Spedgwick has ever wanted is to play Jesus Christ in his high school’s production of “Jesus Christ Spectacular.” Though Mangus has mastered tap dancing and memorized the play’s songs when he was still a young boy, Jesus’ sandals are hard to fill and the competition in this Texas town is flamboyantly fierce.
