Socket is a dark, sexual sci-fi thriller about a gay surgeon drawn into a bizarre cult of electricity addicts who have all been struck by lightning. Sex, plugs, shock n’ roll!
Sean Abley (co-founder of Chicago’s Factory Theater) wrote, directed, produced, and co-stars in the shocking tale of Bill Matthews, a doctor who isn’t quite himself after being hit by lightning. As Bill recuperates in the hospital where he works, he meets Murphy, a mysterious and handsome intern. After relating his own tale of being struck by lightning, and the strange cravings he developed after the accident, Murphy invites Bill to attend a meeting “for people like us.”
Bill reluctantly finds himself drawn to a support group of lightning strike survivors, all with an insatiable appetite for electricity. He quickly immerses himself in the group and into a kinky relationship with the seductive intern. Full-frontal fireworks soon follow. Bill, Murphy, and the group “juice up” with increasing frequency and more voltage as the weeks go by—talk about a circuit party! Later, a random encounter leads Bill to a new, more dangerous level of addiction. A strong female supporting cast includes Chicago favorite Alexandra Billings.
Director Sean Abley and Actor
