Reeling 2019: The 37th Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival will take place September 19-29, 2019. Reeling prides itself on showing the best in LGBTQ+ cinema year after year. Reeling is produced by Chicago Filmmakers, a local nonprofit media arts organization. Reeling relies on a group of dedicated individuals to work on-site and behind the scenes during the months of August and September. Social Media Coordinators manage all of Reeling’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), posting scheduled content as well as identifying and executing real-time content opportunities. Must have knowledge in and experience with social media management; position requires nights/weekend availability before and during the Festival. Active August and September. *This can be taken as a marketing internship for college credit!


The Jury Coordinator will liaise with the Jury members for the Short Films program, and receive their ballots for Reeling Jury Awards. This job will require frequent correspondence, organization, attention to detail, and relationship-building with Jury members and festival organizers. Active early September through the end of the festival September 29th, 2019.


Reeling needs event photographers to document the film festival. Photographers will work with the Programs Manager and the Social Media Coordinators to share the festival’s story. Must be proficient in either Lightroom or Photoshop. Active during the festival September 19-29, 2019.


Operations Assistants work under the Programs Manager and Executive Director to help as needed with administrative and logistical tasks before and during the festival. Must be detail oriented, have a driver’s license, and be willing/able to lift at least 25 lbs. Active from mid-August through the end of the festival September 29th.


Box Office Agents (10 openings) work under the Box Office & Ticketing Manager to sell tickets for the festival through walk-up sales. Requires good communication and customer service skills. Must have a positive and professional attitude. Responsible for following daily sales procedures and balancing sales. We can train volunteers on our ticketing system. Evening and weekend hours required. Active starting on September 8 and throughout the festival September 19-29, 2019.


Reeling offers different levels of membership with level-specific benefits. The Membership Manager will be in charge of processing membership orders, keeping a database of members and levels, and fulfilling membership kits (which include a festival pass). This position will also include maintenance of our ticketing portal to accommodate membership promotions and discount codes during the festival pre-season, and to facilitate pre-sale ticketing for existing memberships. Active in mid August through the festival September 19-29, 2019.


Marketing Associates report to the Marketing Manager and Director of Operations to assist in the organizational aspects of the Festival’s marketing operations, including street team recruitment and management, media sponsorship fulfillment, materials production, and general event promotions. Marketing Associates will work to build audiences and increase general event awareness. Ideal candidates are high-energy, motivated, forward thinkers who are excited about queer cinema and/or film, in general. August through October – with possibility to extend to December for internship credit. *This can be taken as a marketing internship for college credit!
