How long are films available to stream?
All festival films are available to stream for a period of 4 days each. Once you hit play on a movie, you have 48 hours to finish watching it at any point during the 4-day period. Check the schedule to see when films will be premiered. Each film page includes a real-time countdown for availability.
How does my pass work?
Festival passes allow you to watch or “unlock” one film at a time and are automatically linked to your account on Eventive. Because films can “sell out” we highly recommend reserving tickets in advance. Passes are non-transferable. No refunds or exchanges.
How do I purchase an individual ticket to a program?
To purchase an individual ticket, browse Reeling’s Virtual Catalog and select the film you wish to watch. Purchase your ticket by selecting “Pre-order” or ”Unlock” and then enter your email address to log in or create an account on Eventive. You will then be prompted to enter your credit card information to complete the purchase.
What happens once I purchase my pass or individual ticket?
If you purchase a ticket during the 4-day availability window, the player will automatically “unlock” the film and allow you to view the content. When you’re ready to start watching the film within the 4-day window, hit “Watch Now”.
If you pre-purchase films, you can access and watch them during the availability window by clicking on your profile icon in the top right corner of Reeling’s Virtual Catalog, then selecting “My Virtual Content.”
Can I watch films if I’m located outside of Illinois or the United States?
All feature film programs will only be accessible to viewers located in Illinois. All short programs will be available worldwide with the exception of LONELY BEAUTIFUL BOYS and END OF THE WORLD AS YOU KNOW IT which will only be available in the U.S.
Which web browsers can I use for streaming?
On both Windows and Mac computers, the following browsers are supported: Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Safari. We recommend using the latest version of your browser. Please note that streaming is not supported on Internet Explorer.

What does it mean if the film says “Sold Out”?
Some virtual screenings have limited capacity, and films can “sell out” which will be indicated by “Sold Out.“
How do I watch a livestream or live Q&A?
A ticket purchase is required to attend the livestream filmmaker Q&As. If you’ve ordered a film program that includes a Filmmaker Q&A, navigate to the film’s page from Reeling’s Virtual Catalog. On the film page, simply select “Filmmaker Q&A” from the right side menu then click “Enter Livestream” at the designated time. A countdown clock will appear to let you know when it will start.
Can I watch a Filmmaker Q&A livestream after it is over?
Yes, livestreams are recorded and made available to ticket holders for the duration of the program availability window. An archive of all recorded Q&As will also be uploaded to Reeling’s Vimeo throughout the festival. You may access the videos as they become available here: https://vimeo.com/showcase/7504724
How long do I have to watch a film once I hit play?
You will have 48 hours to finish watching the film once you hit play.
Why is a film no longer available?
Films are only available for a limited time and can only be viewed within the 4-day viewing window. Each film page includes a real-time countdown for availability. See an example below.
“After this content becomes available September 24th at 12:00 am CDT, you’ll have 3 days 23 hours to start watching. Once you begin, you’ll have 48 hours to finish watching.”
How do I redeem my discount code?
To redeem a discount code, select the film you wish to “Pre-order” or “Unlock” from the Virtual Catalog. It will say Unlock ”Film Title” $12. Below that it will say “Have a Discount Code?” Click that and enter your discount code. Proceed to sign in to Eventive or create an account, if you do not already have one. Then, press play to enjoy the film!
Do the films have closed captioning?
Films with closed captioning will be indicated by “Closed captioning available.” To make captions visible, hover your cursor over the video player then click on the CC (closed caption) button. Most international titles will also have subtitles.
How do I adjust the volume on the web player?
To make volume controls visible, hover your cursor over the video player. Click on the sound icon and slide the volume bar to adjust the volume.
How do I play the movie on my TV?
If you have an Apple TV, Chromecast (3rd gen or later), or a smart TV enabled with AirPlay or Chromecast, set your computer, mobile device or browser to “AirPlay” or “cast” to the TV device. Unlock the program on Eventive Virtual, then set your player window to full-screen using the icon at the lower right.
My movie won’t play! (General troubleshooting steps)
Please confirm that you are not on a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Eventive’s content protection protocol does not allow VPN access.
Are you logged in with the correct account? Please check your login status at the upper right hand corner of the Eventive window. If you are logged in, you will see a circle with the initials of the account holder. To switch accounts, click on the circle and select “sign out”, then log in (using email address or Facebook login) to the preferred account.
If you are not logged in, you’ll see the word “log in” at the upper right hand side of the window. Click “log in” and enter the desired account credentials.
You may also log in directly from the order pop-up if you click “unlock movie” while logged out.
If all you see in the player window is a black screen, please click or tap on the window to activate the player controls.
